Just a quick picture of Fronteras our local town, before we set off to Antigua.

Waiting at the bus stop.

Views from the bus on the 5 hour journey to Antigua

Crazy kids on the bus and a big sweaty Sarah!

Our Hotel room in Antigua - Posada San Sebastian, the most expensive place we have stayed so far, made Stuart feel a bit sick paying all that money!

The bathroom section in the corner of our room!

Reception of the hotel

Me in the hotel room

The view to the court yard from our window

Juts outside our room, the hotel was like a museum, with lots of bits of Guatemalan history everywhere.

Balcony outside out room

It also had its very own Parrot who liked to have a chat to everyone

The parades that happened every day and night throughout the Easter time

The band accompanying the floats

Along with ridiculous amounts of incense!

Along with the parades they make the most elaborate carpets on the street from maize, sawdust, flowers and fruits, which then get trampled on by the processions and are gone soon after they are finished.

This was one of the cathedrals that has finally been left as a ruin after being destroyed 3 times by earthquakes. It has stood like this for the last 215 years.

This archway is iconic of Guatemala and you will see images of it where ever you go. On a clear day you get a fantastic view of one the volcanoes straight through the middle, although all the while we were here it remained misty.

These were the best pictures we managed to get of the volcanoes, due to the misty weather

This was the Catedral De Santiago, in the central park

Us grabbing lunch one day at a local launderette

We went to the local market and did some bartering for some hammocks, we recon we did pretty well. As you can see some parts of the market are not as busy as others!

Then we made some new friends on the way out of the market. They brought us a few beers, showed us their war scars and gave us a free back scratcher whilst drinking copious amounts of Stag. Can't say fairer than that!
